Transforming Lives Through Practical Support
Education and Counselling
This programme is focused on the educational development of widows’ children and orphans. WOSSA also conducts a seasonal Education Relief Programme (ERP), where selected students are adopted by individual sponsors who pay their school fees.
In addition, WOSSA organizes an annual Back-to-School Programme (BTS), where school items such as bags, sandals, water bottles, exercise books, mathematical sets, pens, and pencils are distributed to hundreds of schoolchildren.
Business and Economic Empowerment
WOSSA’s Business and Economic Empowerment Programme has brought hope to many widows. Through this initiative, beneficiaries have received over 200 crates of Coca-Cola products, along with trading materials such as tables, coolers, and umbrellas.
Over the years, WOSSA has empowered more than 400 widows in different businesses through support from the Founder, donors, and partners. Widows who require additional funds to grow their businesses are also supported through Soutien Cooperative Multipurpose Limited.
WOSSA also provides Concessional Business Grants (CBG) to elderly widows for petty trading. These grants range from ₦20,000 to ₦50,000 and are not repayable.
Rehabilitation and Healthcare
WOSSA has supported more than 30 widows facing accommodation challenges by contributing towards or fully paying their house rent, with assistance ranging from ₦50,000 to ₦350,000.
The organization also supports widows with health challenges by paying hospital bills and providing special medical grants. Widows living with long-term illnesses such as diabetes and hypertension receive monthly assistance to help them purchase their medication.
Material Needs and Welfare
Since 2015, WOSSA has organized an annual End-of-Year Welfare Programme for registered beneficiaries. During the programme, food items such as rice, beans, noodles, tomato paste, and cooking oil are distributed.
WOSSA also provides feeding assistance to families facing severe financial hardship. The approved support is used to purchase food items for such families on a monthly basis.
Prayer and Thanksgiving Programme
Since its inception, WOSSA has organized an annual Prayer and Thanksgiving Programme to emphasize the importance of prayer, gratitude, and spiritual encouragement.
Beneficiaries are brought together for counselling, training, and prayers for God’s mercy, grace, and continued support.
Vocational Training and Skill Acquisition
In partnership with DE Benze Petroleum Limited and Jodappa Nigeria Limited, WOSSA has sponsored more than 20 widows for vocational training.
The training areas include bead-making, decoration, baking, cosmetology, soap production, and catering. These skills help beneficiaries become more self-reliant and improve their income opportunities.
